OJRC Fledglings

“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats".  Ratty’s advice to Mole at the beginning of The Wind in the Willows captures perfectly what we aim to achieve with our OJRC Fledglings.

This two day course, for 10 and 11 year olds, will be the beginning of what we hope might become a lifelong love affair with the River . At OJRC we love being out having fun on the water and we want nothing more than to introduce our young fledglings, just as Ratty introduced Mole, to the unbridled joy of being out in rowing boats. Starting with the important aspects of water safety we hope by the end of the course to have prepared our Fledglings for their next step which might even be a visit to The Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

Please note that this 2 day course is for beginners.  If you son/daughter has any rowing experience then please do get in touch and we can discuss whether the 5 day course might be better for them.

Our next Fledlings courses will be run in the Easter and Summer holidays of 2019. Please do get in touch to go on our mailing to be the first to hear about when bookings open.

The 2019 costs will be released shorty.  Bursaries will be available so please do get in touch with us if you are interested in applying for these.

We will be running the course on the lakes in Hinksey Park which is the perfect location for children to be introduced to this wonderful sport.
